Balancing Qi Promotes Well-being
According to Traditional Chinese medicine, the energy that flows through the body, known as ‘qi’, needs to be in a dynamic and harmonious balance resulting in a healthy human being of sound mind. Disruptions in ‘qi’ create imbalances in the body’s energy that leads to illness.
The practice of acupuncture restores qi in the body to a healthy equilibrium through the insertion of very thin needles into the patient’s skin at specific ‘acupoints’. The relevant points are believed to stimulate the central nervous system which in turn releases chemicals into the muscles, spinal cord, and brain. These biochemical changes stimulate the body’s natural healing abilities which can lead to physical and emotional well-being.

“For the body to be healthy, it has to be in a state of dynamic balance. When a person is balanced within themselves, it is easier to be in a balanced relationship with others and the world around us.”
